Joe Plenys, known for his dynamic and rhythmic editing style and affable personality, approaches each project as a visual puzzle. He pieces together the elements of setting, character, dialogue, action, sound, and subtle detail to create a seamless narrative, which pulses with distinct moods and empathic force.

After receiving his BA in Film at Columbia College, a commercial post-house in Chicago immediately hired him as a full-time assistant editor, impressed with his technical savvy and efficiency with the Avid. However, he could not resist the pull of Hollywood, so he packed his bags, left his hometown and his secure job to test his luck and skills in the heart of Los Angeles. He proved himself early on working as an assistant editor on several consecutive feature films, solving tech problems that befuddled his co-workers and taking any chance he could get to show his talents as an editor.

Gradually, people began to take notice and offered him opportunities to cut trailers, promo pieces, and short films. His fresh and innovative approach to story-telling as well as his self-sufficiency in the editing room caught the eye of producers and directors alike landing him his first feature film. Joe Plenys has been in the industry for seven years, three years as a feature editor. And he plans on staying. After all, who could resist a room with no windows except for the one that opens into a world you are helping to create?
